FDA Clears Sol-Millennium’s Blood Collection Set

Sol-Millennium Inc. has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its proprietary Sol-Guard Safety Pull Button Blood Collection Set, the newest safety device in the company’s blood collection portfolio.

The Blood Collection Set features spring-activated needle retraction technology, designed to minimize the risk of accidental needlesticks and exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

With ease, safety and comfort in mind, the Sol-Guard Safety Pull-Button Blood Collection Set features an exclusive version of the “Butterfly Needle,” which contains a sliding button that with pull force, activates in-vein needle retraction, thereby helping prevent needlestick injury and bloodborne pathogen exposure. Other product features include: 

• A low angle tri-bevel tip designed to improve penetration and minimize patient discomfort
• A thin-walled needle for fast flow rate, which helps reduce the risk of blood hemolysis
• A tactile non-slip grip to help engage the safety feature
• Thirty percent wider wings for improved handling during insertion and removal
• A lLarge, oversized arrow to easily identify the activation pull button
• Flashback for instant and clear confirmation of proper needle placement
• A spring mechanism for split second in-vein needle retraction
